She's so nosey, she won't sleep!
The night I made my last post was the beginning of a week of craziness when it came to Elizabeth sleeping. She didnt want anything to do with it (sleeping!). She was afraid she was going to miss out on something! She is SO NOSEY! We would go through our nightly routine. Dinner of solids, play time, bath time, more play time, snuggle time, bed time feeding, and off to play with the angels in dream land! This little girl would fall asleep in my arms, she'd be OUT COLD, but the moment I would go to lay her down in her crib, she would scream bloddy murder. OMG. It was horrible. We tried the theory of just letting her cry. Didnt work. She would cry, and cry, and cry, and yup...you guessed it, she would cry some more. She didnt want to go to bed. One night sticks out that it was after midnight that she FINALLY fell asleep. It was probably 9pm when we first tried laying her down. But, once she fell asleep, she was up every hour after that, just screaming. I didnt know what to do. So, we'd snuggle, or I'd feed her. It still wasnt enough. We dealt with this for close to a week. Then, on the following Tuesday, I noticed she was pulling at her ears. We took her in to the doctor, wanting to know if it was maybe an ear infection. We couldnt get into her normal doctor, so I just made an appt with whoever was available. Ends up, I really really liked this new doctor. I am still considering switching over. Anyways...she looked at E's eyes, ears, throat...ect. Nothing is wrong with her. GREAT! But why is she freaking out everytime I lay her down! Well, the doctor just suggested that we have a BAD teether on our hands, and a nosey little girl. She may be going through that seperation anxiety, knowing that once she is in her bed, mom & dad are no longer in the room. So, the new doctor recommended three things (that she has tried w/ her kids)....1) give her baby motrin, instead of tylenol. It works better for the teething pain. 2) run a humidifier...the light noise of the machine may be enough to calm Elizabeth and keep her sleeping and 3) put a folded up towel under the end of the matress that she lays her head. This SLIGHT elevation may be enough to make her happy, so she's not laying totally flat on the matress. I tried all three suggestions....and she has been (for the most part) sleeping through the night since! She has an occasional wake up, but, NOT like she used to, AND she has no problem sleeping in her crib!
